Aircraft

Q: How many seats are in your aircraft?

A: Our aircraft can accommodate up to 6 passengers.

Q: Do you operate any aircraft with single-pilot?

No, all Island Express Air flight are conducted with two-pilots for enhanced passenger safety and comfort.




Booking

Q: Why do you ask my body weight?

A: Island Express Air requests your body weight to most accurately fulfill Transport Canada Safety Regulations and to reduce the chance that a flight is overbooked due to the aircraft being loaded above safe parameters.




Can I bring my pet with me?

Pets are welcome at Island Express Air, but are subject to the discretion of the crew as the pet will travel inside the aircraft and other passengers must also be considered. If you plan to travel with a pet please call us at 1.888.856.6260 and be advised of the following information:

  • All pets must be in a hard-shelled approved airline kennel measuring a maximum 38 cm (15 inches in height and 45 cm (18 inches) in length.
  • Both pet and its kennel will be counted in addition to the luggage allowance.
  • In addition to standard luggage charges, there is a minimum charge of $25 +HST for the pet and kennel weighing 25lbs or less. Pets and kennels weighing more than 25lbs will be charged an additional $1.00/lb



Change and Cancellation policy

A: Passenger Initiated Changes or Cancellations

Island Express Air is pleased to offer the airline industry’s friendliest, hassle free Cancellation policy.

Changes

You can change your flight as many times as needed right up to 48 hours before your scheduled flight time at no charge.

Changes made less than 48 hours prior to your scheduled flight time are subject to administration fee of $25 + HST per person per one-way flight.

Changes made less than 24 hours before your scheduled flight time are forfeited.

There are no refunds and tickets will be forfeited for no-shows.

Cancellations

You can cancel your flight up to 24 hours before your scheduled flight time and you will receive a flight credit good for 2 years. Cancellations made up to 24 hours before your flight are subject to administration fee of $25 + HST per person per one-way flight. There are no refunds.

Cancellations made less than 24 hours before your scheduled flight time are forfeited.

There are no refunds and tickets will be forfeited for no-shows.

Flight Delays and Cancellations

Flights delayed or flights canceled due to weather will be replaced with the next available flight or a flight credit valid for 2 years and fully transferable at no charge, as preferred by the customer.

Flights canceled by Island Express Air for any reason other than weather will receive either a full refund or a credit for the original flight plus an additional one-way flight credit that is fully transferable, at no charge.

Check-in

Q: How soon before flight time should I check-in?

A: We do require passengers to check-in 30 minutes prior to scheduled departure time. Unclaimed seats will be offered to stand-by passengers within 10 minutes of departure time.

Q: Do I need to show photo ID when I check-in?

A: We do require photo ID for any passenger 16 years or older at check-in time.

Q: Can I bring my pet with me?

A: Yes! We offer prepaid Quick-Tickets. Buy a book of 10 tickets and get one free. A great deal a very convenient as Quick-Tickets carry no travel restrictions and can be used by anyone anytime they fly.

Luggage

Q: What is the baggage allowance?

A: 30 lbs free carry on luggage, which must be screened. Additional charges apply for overweight carry on luggage and all checked luggage. For more information please see Luggage.

Q: Do you permit transportation of firearms and ammunition?

A: Firearms and ammunition are not permitted on the aircraft.

Reservations

Q: Do you have a Change / Cancellation Policy?

A: Changes made at least 24 hours prior to the flight are provided at no extra charge. Cancellations made at least 24 hours prior to flight are non-refundable but will be replaced with a free flight credit good for 12 months. No-show tickets are non-refundable and no eligible for a flight credit.




Seating

Q: Why am I sometimes asked to sit in a specific seat?

A: To ensure our aircraft are properly loaded we sometimes request that you sit in a specific seat to ensure the safe operation of your flight.

Q: Can I book a private charter?

A: Yes. We would be pleased to discuss charters with you. For more information please see Charters.

Q: Do you send freight or packages?

A: Yes, Island Express Air offers freight and parcel service to its scheduled destinations and also to other destinations. Please call 1.888.856.6260 for rates.

Q: How long is the flight?

A: The flight times are as follows:

  • Abbotsford - Victoria – 20 minutes
  • Victoria – Abbotsford – 20 minutes
  • Victoria – Nanaimo – 15 minutes
  • Nanaimo – Victoria – 15 minutes

Q: Is parking available at your locations?

A: Pay parking is available at Abbotsford, Victoria and Nanaimo.

Special Guest Services

Q: Do you accept Unaccompanied Minors?

A: Yes, it is our pleasure to accept Unaccompanied Minors subject to the following:

  • Minors must be between the ages of 5 and 11.
  • Unaccompanied Minors fare is the same as the adult fare.
  • Please allow extra time prior to check-in to complete the Unaccompanied Minor Form.
  • Pick-up and drop-off guardians are required to show government issued picture ID (eg. Drivers License or Passport)
  • An Unaccompanied Minor cannot travel under a weather advisory that is believed by Island Express Air to possible effect or has affected normal flight operations.

Q: Do infants travel free?

A: Children under the age of 23 months may travel a no cost if they do not require a seatbelt and can sit on the lap of their guardian. Proof of age will be required at time of check-in (birth certificate or care card)

Q: Do you accept passengers with disabilities?

A: Yes, provided the passenger can walk through screening and climb three steps into the aircraft with limited assistance.

Q: Are pregnant passengers permitted to fly?

A: A woman at any stage of pregnancy is most welcome to fly with us. Women past 28 weks must consult a physician to obtain a written confirmation from their physician stating that they are fit travel and to reduce the chance the seatbelt will compromise the pregnancy, Island Express Air will make the decision on whether a pregnant passenger can fly.
